Stage Conference Askes What Is a Dramaturge
Short report on a two-day Stage Conference at Columbia University about the wide range of opinion on who dramaturges are and what they do, or in other words: what exactly is a dramaturge? And what is the role of the dramaturge in the theatre? And should a dramaturge be called: Dramaturge, Production Dramaturge, Literary Manager, or Literary Adviser? In short: this Stage conference was a conference on dramaturges where much debate was going on about the nature of the job “dramaturge”, as well as about the nature of its name.
