An interview with dramaturg Anne Cattaneo. She currently serves as dramaturg for the Second Stage in New York City. She is also head of the dramaturgy program at the Playwrights Horizons Studio at NYU and a visiting professor in the graduate dramaturgy program at the University of California, San Diego.
For the Acting Company, she created the Chekhov project *Orchards: Seven Contemporary Playwrights Adapt Stories by Chekhov*, featuring short plays by John Guare, Maria Irene Fornes, Samm-Art Williams, David Mamet, Spalding Gray, Michael Weller and Wendy Wasserstein. Orchards has been published by Alfred A. Knopf. She was the literary manager of the Phoenix Theater until 1981 and worked as a dramaturg at new play conferences such as the Northwest Playwrights Conference at the Empty Space Theater in Seattle and the New Play Festival at the Sundance Institute. She is a graduate of Mills College and the Yale School of Drama.
