This book contains a collection of essays by eleven prominent US-American playwrights. In these essays, the playwrights reflect on their practice and the US-American theater field and its thinking about dramaturgy. The essays are somewhat specialized, but the collection as a whole gives an impression of the US-American thinking about theater circa 1962. Apart from the essays, the book contains an introduction by the editors and an appendix containing among others biographies of the authors and a keyword register.
